Based in Berkeley, California, TranscribeMe is a web-based provider of converting audio and video content into accurate text.
To complete transcripts quickly, confidentially, and at an affordable price, they dice up the audio submitted into small pieces.
Transcribeme then assigns the smaller pieces to the large number of the transcriptionists who transcribe the information.
When the work is complete, the files are put back together, they audit the information, and return it to the owner.

- Installation of Google Chrome Web Browser is required.
TranscribeMe also recommends you use headphones to limit the noise distractions around you as it makes transcribing easier.
Experienced transcribers recommend a foot pedal as transcribing is made more comfortable. You do not have to take your fingers off the keyboard to control the playback of the audio file, which make your task much easier.
To be eligible for work with TranscribeMe, you must pass their test.

Good luck. Sign up for the exam here.
Pay varies with experience.
The current starting rate is between $15 and $20 per audio hour; however, this will increase slightly with experience.
Please note that TranscribeMe pays by the audio hour, so you will receive a paycheck for the length of the audio file that you transcribe, which may not equate to the time it takes to transcribe it accurately.
I type pretty fast, so an audio file lasting an hour would take me approximately 2, maybe 3 hours, but the standard time allows 4 minutes to transcribe 1 minute of audio, meaning you could spend up to 4 hours transcribing. This equates to only earning $4 an hour.
The more experience you have with Transcribeme, the more likely you will receive higher-paid work in other projects.
