What Is Survey Junkie?

Survey Junkie has been around for a number of years, making it one of the older survey companies out there.

The Survey Junkie website states that they are an online community of over 10 million members.   Each member is valued for giving their views on a wide range of companies and their associated brands.

Survey Junkie state that all viewpoints impact on the products and services of tomorrow.  With their primary role being, to connect people like you, to companies who require your opinions on clothes, toys, advertising, electronics and more.

The company provide a great way to earn some extra dollars each week, and provide the research companies with some great feedback to help improve their products.

Survey Junkie:  How Does Survey Junkie Work?

Registration to Survey Junkie is free, they allow one member per unique email address.

For each survey you complete, you will earn points, the points vary on the size of the survey, so longer more detailed surveys pay more points.

You will be asked some qualifying questions for each survey you intend to complete, if you do not qualify for that particular survey then you may still earn points.

Before you start the survey you will be able to see how many points each survey is worth.  This can help you determine if you want to complete that particular survey.

Questions in the survey are focused on a particular product.  You will be asked to express your views on these products.

After you've carried out a number of surveys you, may be asked to join a focus group which will pay more points.

Once you've contributed to enough surveys and reach the $10 minimum pay out limit, you will be able to redeem the points for cash or gift cards.

How To Use Survey Junkie

Registering is fast and simple.

They will ask you for your email address, zip code, gender, date of birthday and then ask you to choose a password.  Simple.

Survey Junkie Sign Up

Complete the profile, which is 16 questions long, to earn an additional 50 points.

The questions are the normal run of the mill questions, typically about your demographic, and family.

If you don't want to complete the profile, you have the option to decline if you wish.

You will earn an extra few points from confirming your email (25 Points), taking a 'how it work tour (5 points)and completing profiles surveys (50 points).

Selecting the surveys you want to complete is easy, you just need to click the survey tab.

You will also be able to indicate if you are interested in focus groups, product testing or even telephone surveys.

Survey Choice

You can choose from a number of surveys, each tells you how long they will take and how many points you will earn.

Some surveys pay really well.  For example: a 10 minute survey could earn you 40 points, but then other surveys could only pay 40 points for 20 minutes.  You get to choose which surveys you take, so you can make up your mind if you want to complete the longer ones..

The majority of surveys provide time estimates.  These are a guide and the surveys I have completed, were completed in a much shorter time frame.

Occassionlaly, some of the surveys I have started have sent me a message advising that I don't qualify for that particular one.  This is slightly annoying but on the whole they give you a few points for your efforts.

You will receive email reminders on a regular basis advising what new surveys you can participate in, which is great.  However get in thier quick as other users may complete it, before you have a chance.

On a number of occasions, I' will log back into Survey Junkie, and find the survey will no longer be available as enough users have already completed it.

Survey Junkie's Point System Explanation

With Survey Junkie you earn points rather than cash.  Every point is equal to 1 cent.

For every survey you complete you earn points, which you accumulate until you hit the minimum threshold of 1,000 points ($10).

Once you've hit this threshold you can exchange for gift cards or even cash into your paypal account.

When you are ready to cash in your points, Survey Junkie have a policy that you have to cash in all your points.  So if you have 1600 points, then you have to take all $16 in one go.

Another point to note, if your account has not been active in a 12 month period you will lose your points, so ensure you at least log in once a year.

Making Money With Survey Junkie

There are a several ways to make money with Survey Junkie:

Completing Surveys

Taking surveys is the most popular way to earn some extra cash in Survey Junkie.

Every time you have a spare ten minutes, you could log into your account to see which surveys are available, then using the time guide you can decide which one you have time to complete.

There are a huge variety of topics, so one day you could be answering questions about TV shows and the next about make up.

Before each survey you will have to answer a few questions to ensure you are the right fit for that survey topic.

These questions relate to your age, income, hobbies and so on.

You will then be told if you are eligible to complete that particular survey and earn your points.

If you are not eligible then you'll still earn some points for trying to participate.

Focus Groups

In Survey Junkie you will also get the opportunity to take part in focus groups.

The points earned will be higher than those received for traditional surveys and you can give your opinion about the topic in a different way.

Once again your will need to fit the criteria to qualify, but if you do then extra points will be in the bag.

How Much Money Can I Make With Survey Junkie?

I'll make this really clear from the get go.

You will not become rich completing surveys, there are plenty of other jobs you can do from home which will provide you with a greater income.

These however may not be as easy as completing surveys.

You will not be able to quit your job and complete surveys all day, that just won't happen.

The most I have made from a survey is $3.  If I complete 2 surveys a week then that's $6 a week.

Rewards however do vary with commitment and regular participation. If you complete reguarly you may have the opportunity to earn more than I have stated above.

This is great as even if you don't quality you get a few points.

Disadvantages Of Survey Junkie

As with all survey sites there are a few drawbacks:

You May Not Qualify For All Surveys

Before the actual survey begins, you are asked some initial questions to see if you are eligible for that particular survey.

Unfortunately, this happens on a regular basis, which can be very frustrating.

Accounts Closed

One problem to be aware of is that plenty of people have had their accounts closed with survey Junkie and there is no reason behind it.

You Will Not Get Rich

If you want to get rich fast, then Survey Junkie is not the best option for you.

Let's say you are saving up for a new car, then think of another way to earn money as completing surveys will take you a very long time to earn that sort of money.

Surveys Are Not Always Available When You Log In

It is really frustrating when you receive an invite to complete a survey and the survey has already been completed.

You need to log into your account on a regular basis if you do not want to miss out.

The Surveys Do Not Indicate What They Are About On The Listing Page

When you are browing to see which survey you want to complete, Survey Junkie do not list what the survey is about.

It can be quite frustrating as this would save time as then you would only complete surveys you a have an interest in and ones that you think you would qualify for.

Survey Junkie Is Only Open To Customers In Certain Countries.

This site is only  available to residents in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, or New Zealand.

  • When completing surveys, you are not just earning money you are helping to ensure products meet consumer needs so if you like giving your opinions then completing surveys is something you should consider.

There are also people who should avoid Survey Junkie:

  • If you want to make a passive income, then Survey Junkie is also not for you.  Maybe you should consider starting a blog.

What Other Legitimate Survey Sites Are There?

Survey Junkie, is one of the main survey sites available.

It stands out from the others as it is so easy to use and is promoted by a number of sites talking about weekend jobs, jobs for kids and other ways to make an income.

There are numerous survey sites out that are legitimate.  My favourite two are:

Swagbucks

Swagbucks pays you for online shopping, watching videos and completing surveys.  These are another big player in the survey market.

Vindale Research

Vindale Research pays cash for completing surveys.  They send you regular emails, when surveys become available.

You could also try out Microworkers and Clickworkers who pay for small jobs if you find you want to earn a bit more for completing other tasks.

Survey Junkie Conclusion

Pros

  • Easy To Use
  • Payments are received quickly
  • Make money in your spare time

Cons

  • You may not be eligible for every survey
  • Accounts are closed
  • You will not get RICH

Conclusion:

Overall I think Survey Junkie is a great way to make a small amount of cash each week to pay for those little extras.
