Driver Requirements

Before driving for either company, you will need to know what their driver requirements are; both companies have very similar conditions, so let's see how Grubhub Vs. Uber Eats driver requirements compare:

Grubhub Driver Requirements

​All drivers ​have the opportunity to become a Grubhub driver​ if they meet these set requirements:

  • ​​You ​are at least 19 years old (​In Chicago and Las Vegas ​you must be at least 21 years old)

  • ​Drivers must hold a valid driver's license.
  • You must have held a drivers license for two or more years

​The requirements to become a driver for Uber Eats​ In the U.S. are almost identical to Grubhubs driver requirements. 

  • You must be 19 years ​old; for those applicants who are 18, you will be able to deliver ​on foot or by bike.
  • ​Drivers must have held their ​license for at least one year. 
  • You must​ possess a valid driver's license, ​certificate of insurance, and ​your vehicle must be registered. 
  • ​Drivers must pass ​a background check.
  • You must be able to ​carry at least 30 pounds; ​all ​drivers ​must be able to lift and move​ bulky food orders. 

​​In Canada, the rules are slightly different; you must be at least 21 years old to apply ​for a contract as an Uber Eats driver. 

The main difference between Grubhubs and Uber Eats driver requirements is that Uber Eats state drivers only require one year of driving experience compared to the two years required by Grubhub.

Both of these companies pay their drivers for the number of deliveries they complete during their work hours. They do not pay by the hour.

Grubhub Pay​

Grubhub calculate drivers pay using the following formula:

A rate per order + $0.50 per mile (from the pick-up point to the customer) + all the tips received.

The base rate is generally $3 to $4 per order; this depends on where you are based.
